The Canal lateral al Loire (Canal Latéral à la Loire), artificial canal built to connect the Canal de Briare and the Canal Central, in Digoin, a distance of 196 km. It replaced the use of the Loire River which had reliability problems stemming from winter floods and summer droughts. It allows us to enjoy the calm waters of the rivers or canals that cross the Loire-Atlantique region, a place full of castles, vineyards, Romanesque churches, wonderful cities and small villages full of art.
